Returning, Reassigning, or Repairing Apple Devices
Before returning a MacOS/iOS device to EECS IT or before any hardware repair, ensure the following checklist has been completed:
- Remove the device from “Find My”. EECS IT cannot work on any devices with this setting activated. Instructions are below for different situations.
- For repairs, remove all accessories. This includes sleeves, cases, webcam privacy guards, and keyboard covers.
- Be sure to bring in the charger
For MacOS devices (Macbook Pro, Macbook Air, iMac, Mac Studio, Mac Mini, Mac Pro), there are a couple more checklist items.
- Do not wipe, format, or factory reset the system. EECS IT will handle this for you as part of our standard procedure for returns and reassignments.
- Ensure that the original IT Staff account still exists on the system. If this account has been removed, please let us know when you bring it in so we can create another account with you in the room.
