EECS Services Downtime Wednesday, January 12, 2022

The EECS IT Staff will be performing hardware and software updates on a number of departmental servers Wednesday, January 12, 2021. All day, IT services provided by the EECS department will see extended periods of unavailability. Affected services include but are not limited to:

  • NFS (server) file access such as Linux home directories, research and storage areas, VLSI software, etc.
  • Access to Linux storage via Windows file sharing (“L: Drive”)
  • Logins to EECS Linux systems including labs and EECS IT-managed research servers
  • Software license checkouts
  • Access to EECS-hosted personal home pages, research websites, etc.
  • Access to remote desktop/virtual labs (RD4, VDI)


Services that should not be affected include:

  • The main departmental website (www.eecs.utk.edu)
  • UT/EECS email
  • Logins to EECS IT-supported Windows desktops (COMxxxx systems)

Log Out Recommended

The EECS IT Staff requests that you save or checkpoint your work and log off from any EECS Linux systems. Client systems may require reboots after the downtime has concluded.
