====== VDI ====== The VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) lab provides remote access to virtual Windows 10 desktops. When you [[knowledge-base/general/remote-access/vdi|connect to the VDI lab]], you will see a standard Windows 10 (not Windows Server) desktop screen with various software packages installed. Please note: * See [[knowledge-base/general/remote-access/vdi|]] * VDI Desktops reset after every use. This means that anything stored **outside** of your user profile will not be retained after you log off. * Files in your user profile (e.g. in your Documents or Desktop folder) are retained across sessions. Please note, however, that these are **not backed up** and may be deleted at any time. Be sure to save all your files in appropriate cloud storage such as Microsoft OneDrive. * Disconnected sessions time out after 2 hours. ===== Major Software Packages on VDI ===== Please note that all software on the lab systems is for **academic** purposes only. === Version: Spring 2025 === ^ Vendor ^ Software Package ^ Version ^ | Altium | Designer | 24.6.1 | | ANSYS | Electronics Desktop | 2024.2 | | Antenna Design Asso.| PCAAD | 7.0 | | Cadence | PCB Design | 22.1 | | Dassault Systèmes | CST Studio Suite | 2024 | | Powertech | DSA Tools | 22.2 | | Keysight | Advanced Design System (ADS) | 2023.1 | | Mathworks | Matlab | R2024b | | PSCAD | PSCAD | 5.0.2 | | Siemens | PSSE | 35.5.3 | | Synopsys | Saber | V-2024.03 | | Xilinx | Vivado | 2023.1 | ===== Hardware Allocation Per VM (Spring 2025) ===== ==== EECS VDI Lab ==== * **Operating system:** Windows 10 22H2 * **Memory:** 24GB * **Storage:** 20GB (per user)
